« Le Blanc de Bio » the first organic cuvée by CHAMPAGNE DE SAINT-GALL
Le Blanc de Bio is a product of our winemakers’ vision and teamwork.
UNION CHAMPAGNE began its eco-friendly campaign in 2012 with winemaking partners who want to help make vine growing more sustainable. Its inspiring CSR policy is on track for completion and over 50% of the UNION CHAMPAGNE vineyard has now achieved the VDC (Sustainable Winemaking in Champagne) and HEV (High Environmental Value) certifications (level 3). 17 hectares are approved as organic out of a total of 1400 hectares, 90% of which are in Premier Cru or Grand Cru villages.
Le Blanc de Bio is a Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru cuvée. It’s fuelled by an ever-growing concern among our winemaking partners and is the result of their hard work to make wine as sustainably as possible. In terms of sustainability, UNION CHAMPAGNE provides day-to-day support in both the vineyard and the cellar with efficient winemaking equipment.
Le Blanc de Bio contains 100% chardonnay and embodies our shared vision of vine growing, our commitment to the environment and our sense of teamwork in the field.
Terroir
The Côte des Blancs terroir is seen as one of Champagne’s brightest stars. It covers 3200 ha in a 20 km area south of Épernay. The vineyard is almost entirely made up of chardonnay grapes which puts its chalky soil centre stage. It stores water and heat in the subsoil alongside essential nutrients for this grape variety to thrive and make CHAMPAGNE DE SAINT-GALL what it is.
The Premier Cru villages of Vertus and Bergères-les-Vertus go into the Le Blanc de Bio blend.
