Harvest news
For the second time in four years, harvesting began in late August in Champagne. After worries about insufficient ripening due to a particularly difficult summer, the sun returned and literally “saved” the harvest. Picking began unhurriedly on 29 August and sorting in the vineyards enabled us to bring in very beautiful grapes. Sugar levels were at approximately 9.5°C for the Chardonnays and 10°C for the Pinot Noirs. Yields were from 14,000 to 15,500 kg/ha depending on the sector. The first tastings of the “vins clairs” proved to be interesting. The wines are expressive and show nice acidic structure before malolactic fermentation. The 2007 vintage looks promising both for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

This year, once again, De Saint Gall picked up a fine selection of awards including Honourable Mention for its 2000 Brut Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru, its 2002 Brut Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru, as well as for the 1996 Cuvée Orpale.

De Saint Gall beat all of its previous records at this eminent international competition held in Germany under the patronage of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine and the International Union of Oenologists.
